Downstream Power Generation

Botala is currently assessing the potential for downstream power generation options for both the Serowe and Leupane locations. The power systems would focus on the hybrid use of both gas and solar. This combination provides access to 24hr per day electricity while reducing emissions and production costs when compared with power generation from coal.

Serowe 20MW – Power Plant

The current design is focused on a concept to deliver a minimum of 10MW of power into the grid using a hybrid of 10MW gas power generation and 10MW of solar power generation. Botala has completed the environmental approvals for the project along with grid connection studies. This work completed to date was a precursor to Botala bidding for the 4MW project Phuthi in Serowe.

Leupane 200MW – Gas Fired Power Plant

Along with a large solar project at the Leupane site.
