Why Invest?

Southern Africa is facing an impending gas shortage, commonly referred to as the “gas cliff”, expected to take affect from 2028.  The looming supply gap has created an urgent need for alternative sources of natural gas to ensure energy security and continuity for industries across the region.

Botala Energy’s Serowe CBM Project presents a significant opportunity to fill a portion of this gap through the production of LNG.

Serowe CBM Project

  • Substantial energy demand
Botswana wants to become energy independent by developing its own energy resources and reducing emission.
  • Government support
Botala’s CBM will contribute to energy independence; create new industries and generate opportunities and employment
  • Transition to Renewables
CBM will provide reliable baseloads for investments in renewable energy infrastructure
  • Market
Existing domestic market with potential to export energy to neighbouring countries

Botswana

  • Growing demand for industrial and domestic electricity to provide transition to renewables that can be generated from its extensive, undeveloped CBM potential.
  • Proactively encouraging investment in new industries to generate employment and diversification of its industrial base.
  • Well educated population and willing workforce.
  • Efficient and helpful government departments and agencies focussed on assisting industry and creating employment in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Good labour relationships. No South African style Black Economic Empowerment legislation.
  • Africa’s No.1 – Africa’s most attractive jurisdiction and the most appealing to mining.
  • Wants self-sufficiency by reducing its reliance on South Africa, especially imported electricity.
