Early exposure to a high-impact energy opportunity
Answering Southern Africa’s increasing call for gas.
Botala Energy Ltd is focused on developing its 100%-owned Serowe Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Project in Botswana. The Company is currently advancing the Pitse Pilot at the project to de-risk reservoir performance, support reserves determination and progress a Bankable Feasibility Study for future commercial development.
Botala’s strategy is to establish a scalable CBM-to-LNG production pathway capable of supplying domestic and regional energy markets in Southern Africa. With certified gas resources, granted development tenure and a growing operational footprint, Botala is positioned to support Botswana’s energy security and create long-term value for shareholders.
The Opportunity
Southern Africa is facing a looming gas shortage as legacy fields in South Africa and Mozambique decline.
Acreage
Botala Energy’s Serowe Project occupies a dominant acreage position over the gas sweet spot of Botswana, a tier-1 Southern African jurisdiction.
Resource
Botala has significant gas resources (7,542 PJ 3C, 471 PJ 2C) drawn from less than 5% of our exploration acreage; 95% remains undrilled.
Strategic Pathway
We have a clear, scalable four phase pathway to connect our significant resources to thirsty Southern African markets.
Partnerships
We have secured a major industrial off-taker for up to 3.5 PJ, and the support of the Botswana Government and host communities.
Southern Africa is facing a gas crisis.
- Sasol’s Pande-Temane gas fields in Mozambique have served as the main supply (roughly 85%–99%) for South African industry for decades via the ROMPCO pipeline. These fields are reaching the end of their economic life.
- Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminals and pipelines have not been built to bring in new gas. This infrastructure takes years to build.
- The supply crisis effectively begins in 2026 as existing contracts expire and supply shrinks.
Botswana is ideally placed to provide gas to a thirsty Southern Africa energy market.
- Botswana has enjoyed a stable, multi-party democracy since 1966.
- The country has a skilled mining and energy work force, has the highest GDP per capita in Africa, and is English speaking.
- Mining and energy accounts for 40% of Botswana’s current GDP and is critical for economic growth.
Our leadership team knows oil and gas in Africa.
